| Angus C. Gilmour was a captain in the Argyll andamp; Sutherland Highlanders. He had served in the South African (Boer) War, but was found unfit for service at the front at the start of World War 1. Instead he undertook duties in India and Ireland. During the war, he inherited the estate of Eaglesham that had been in his family since the middle of the nineteenth century. |
